**Dog of the week- Roxy**

**Available for Adoption**

We have so many families with children contacting us but we don't always have dogs that are child tested.....

You could not ask for a more child friendly dog in Roxy. OK so she isn' a puppy but isn't temperament more important when it comes to children:

Meet Roxy......

Hello, I am Roxy, i am sadly looking for a new home as my previous adopter is no longer able to care for me, although I have a really lovely foster family, I really want my own family and home again!

I am approximately 5 years old and a mixed breed, spade lady.

I am known as a fun & loving dog, I think that means I like to play and I definitely want to be loved! I really enjoy a good cuddle & I love going out on walks; especially new places with lots of new smells.

Because in my own home i wasn't able to be taken out very often, I put on a few extra pounds but I am on a diet now and getting lots more exercise playing with my foster small people and going out on walks. I still need to lose a bit more of my winter insulation so would love to find myself an active family to continue getting in shape..

I always go outside to do my business but when people tell me sit, down, stay, I am really not sure what they mean! Apparently they say I need to learn commands but I am happy to try.

My foster mum says- She is very keen when out on walks & loves meeting new people & dogs when out & about. Roxy is great with children including my toddler who is still learning about giving dogs some space. She enjoys the company of other dogs but would also do well as an only dog.

She does get nervous when new people come to the house but once she has met someone for the first time she remembers them when they next visit. I'm sure once she feels stable in a loving home her confidence will grow with reassurance from her new family.

Roxy would make a great addition to any family, be it a single owner or family with children.

Alfie- Available for Adoption

Nr Southampton

Our Golden Oldie

This boy is one of the kindest, friendliest dogs you will ever meet. A true gent that in his later years needs to be in his forever home to enjoy all that living with a loving family brings.

Alfie is approximately 10 yrs old. He is a good medium size, mixed breed, un-neutered male. ( un-neutered due to age)

This super boy really enjoys his walks, he walks beautifully on the lead, but is slightly nervous of other dogs that he encounters when out. As with most rescues he is wary of dogs he doesn't know.

He really is such a good boy;, a lovely companion to have in the home, a calm and easy going boy. He even tolerated his first bath.

He had quite a few accidents inside the first few days in foster, but much better now that he has conquered the scary laminate flooring.

He basically ignores the resident dog but getting more and more relaxed with everyone.

He must be happier as there is lots of helicopter tail wagging now.. Sleeps well downstairs on his own.

Loves his food and just sleeping most of the day. He is not neutered due to his age.

Alfie loves the kids but young children would be too much for him; he really needs a quiet, calm house with older dog savvy kids only.

This old chap really deserves to be in his own home where he can enjoy some home comforts and learn what love is, he has a lot of lost time to make up.

Requires a home that will continue his confidence building

Resident dog not essential.

Colby - Available for Adoption

Nr. Salisbury

Colby is a 20 month old pup, he is a medium sized, weighing 17.5 kilos. He is neutered.

He is completely housetrained and been 100% clean since he has been with his foster mum.

Colby is a lovely boy, full of character and fun.

He has met children whilst he has been out on walks and is not at all fazed by them but because of his size, bounciness and excitability we would say that he could live with a family with older dog savvy children.

He would be too excitable and bouncy for toddlers, easily knocking them over.

Colby is good at walking on the lead and enjoys his walks, and has lots of energy so needs an active lifestyle.

He can be a bit vocal sometimes and does like to talk if you are not paying him attention and he wants something

A resident confident dog would possibly help Colby with boundaries. He can be food jealous so would need to be fed seperate from other dogs currently. However one plus side is he loves food and treats which is very useful for ongoing training.

Colby has the most beautiful, soft fur, and loves a cuddle/tummy rub

This gorgeous boy really deserves to be in a forever home with a family that can enjoy him to the full, he will make a great loyal companion.

Requires a home that will continue his confidence building

Prefer home with another resident dog.

Zara- Available for Adoption

Nr. Southampton

This girl is truly special and deserves the best happy ever after

Zara is a small medium sized girl of around 18 months but still behaves like a big puppy. She has very high energy so will need plenty of activity and stimulation as well as all the training you would expect for a pup in order to channel her energy properly.

Zara will play all day long and would definitely need a doggy companion of a similar size to live with as she is obsessed with her foster siblings and they help to keep her occupied.

She’s really good at sharing toys and treats, but does enjoy chewing things she’s not meant to so her home would need to be ‘puppy proofed’ until she learns.

She loves her walks and is well behaved on the lead, greets others nicely, but her pulling will need work. One thing Zara loves is water so a home beside the sea or a river would be really lovely for her.

She is 90% house trained and good with all dogs and is cat tested.

She has not been tested around children, and although is totally non aggressive she can play very rough with other dogs so would easily knock over little people. She can also still mouth when playing.

She’s not trained to be left during the day yet and this will need to be built over time which has begun in foster. She bonds very quickly to her humans and is super loving and cuddly.

She prefers open spaces to relax rather than a den or crate and currently has a blanket on the sofa for her bed with her foster siblings. She sleeps through and settles here quickly at bed time.

As gorgeous as Zara is, she requires a family that will commit to training her and direct her energy in a positive way. She has so much potential that just needs to be harnessed with time and patience.

Needs a resident dog of similar size and energy.

Not child tested but older dog savvy children would be ok

Bianca- Available for Adoption

Near Southampton

Hello, my name is Bianca. I am approximately 4 years old, I am a spayed female of medium sized & weigh approx. 20kgs. I am a very light cream colour & my foster mum says that I’m a beauty!

I am Deaf so I definitely need a patient, tolerant adopter that doesn't expect too much and will let me settle and adjust in my own time as it takes time getting used to everything in a new environment.

I absolutely love people, enjoy strokes, tummy rubs & wrapping myself around my foster mum’s legs.

I’m a big foodie & live for my meals and any treats that come my way.

I do have had some guarding issues when strangers come into the house which I am working on; new faces make me anxious as I take a while to relax around new people; likely because people have not always been kind to me.

If I am given the chance to settle and trust you then I will love you and be your best friend.

I am now tolerating a collar and a harness but I am still getting used to walking on a lead and do tend to pull & weave about on a lead. I’m wary of setting my paws outside the safety of my garden so haven’t been out for any walks yet.

I have bonded very quickly with my foster mum. Give me a comfy bed, food & lots of love & I will be your best friend for life.

Bianca is microchipped, fully vaccinated & has had flea & worm treatments.

Bianca has really been let down by humans in the past but her foster family have done wonders with her to get her where she is today.

Bianca will need an adopter that is truly willing to allow Bianca the time and space she needs to settle in and adapt to any new home environment and continue to help her grow in confidence around people.

She would ideally be suited to either a couple or single adult

Harris- In foster with view to adopt

Fareham, Near Southampton

Harris is a really stunning neutered male shepherd cross of approximately 4 years old who is medium to large sized boy.

He arrived a few months ago; a very shut down sad boy but we knew from the off he was a super special boy.

He has eyes to melt you, they tell a story, you can see he's been treated badly in the past but he has so much love still to give.

Why is this poor boy being overlooked? he deserves to in his forever home, being adored and loving life.

Once Harris knows you he forms a really strong bond with you and it does not take long for him to love you, despite being let down in his past life in Romania.

Harris is now a super friendly playful energetic boy who lives nothing more than playing in the garden.

Harris is learning slowly but surely that walks are fun but still needs encouragement and for this reason we definitely feel Harris needs a canine companion in his new home.

Harris is good around children but we feel a home with no young children would be better for him as he is shy around the fosterers grandchildren.

Harris really is an amazing dog who wants to trust, love and be your best friend; he so deserves his happy ever after but keeps being overlooked; we know someone is out there for him!

Housetrained but regresses if stressed i.e. new environments

Resident dog required

No Cats or small furries

Child tested, older children ok.

Oliver- Experienced Foster required

Hedge End, Near Southampton

Hi everybody. My name is Oliver, I like the name Ollie too and I am 9 months old. I was rescued from a field in Romania with my mum and all my siblings,

Usually I am a happy confident boy once over my initial shyness with new people, I love to play with toys, my foster mum and my foster brothers and sisters. I do have lots of energy but I also really love cuddles.

I am loving the different foods that I have tried. Even when I sneak it out of someone else’s bowl.

I don’t like to sleep in the crate, it’s quite scary when your alone, foster mum says we are going to keep trying (ha that’s what she thinks)

I am a typical puppy so will need lots of training to help me be the best boy. I am really good at listening even if I don’t manage to get everything right just yet, I know I can with your help.

I am housetrained but I may regress a bit with a move

I would be happy to live with another dog or I could also live without another dog as long as I get lots of fuss and attention

When I met some little people I found them quite scary so I would rather not live with young children, but may be ok with teenagers.

I can jump REALLY high and squeeze though smaller spaces than you would think. So I will need to have a super secure garden.

Everything is still very new, some things scare me and others are exciting. It’s a an adventure though.

This message was received by Ollie's Foster mum and it hits the nail on the head

"These dogs are fab. They are learning so much everyday. If people don’t adopt soon they are gonna miss out on some fab experiences. Oliver is growing everyday in personality and confidence.

I want to continue to teach him things but also want to save some of the fun for his new family xxx"

Lord- Available for Adoption

Southampton

The Majestic Lord, a stunning cream GSD Lab looking Cross who arrived a few of weeks ago. Lord is approximately 8 months old. He is already a strong boy so needs a firm adult who can spend time training him.

Lord is a friendly, loving boy who does like attention and wants to be with people; so would likely need someone around most of the time particularly to start with.

Lord has been very good in foster with a (nervous) 7 year old and loves playing with the 12 year old.

Lord is doing really well with lead training and is a calm boy on his walks and loves to sniff things. He really loves to be outside and thoroughly enjoys a run around with other dogs..s, so much so that he doesn’t really want to come home; so he will really need an active family and lifestyle.

He doesn’t seem to be terribly food orientated but has been enjoying some treats whilst training.

He is simply one of the nicest dogs you could wish to meet.

He is amazing with other dogs, playful but submissive when needs to be, if he's too much puppy

This boy is in his element with other dogs.

He would love a home with a playmate or a home that will socialise him as much as possible with other dogs.

Lord loves exercise so an active home where he can join you in long family walks.

He adore everyone, children, men, woman, other dogs

Not only the perfect temperament but stunning to look at. We adore him!!!

Lord will be a lovely friendly addition to an active family who have the time to spend on his training and the attention to give him.

Millie- Available for Adoption

Portsmouth

Millie is a very happy 6 month old mixed breed female puppy.

Millie would be better suited to a home with another dog/s as she is very sociable and loves to play with new pups on walks.

Millie is a typical 6 month old puppy, full of energy and play, loves the morning madness with the 2 resident dogs, She loves a game of chase and zoomies.

Millie has been doing so well on her walks; she walks so well on a lead and has been trusted off lead for the first time.

Millie sticks to the pack and keeps an eye to make sure her people are still close, but as a puppy does, she can get distracted and wants to run to meet all the new people and dogs that are around.

As a puppy that is teething, she is still a bit of a chewer but she loves a good strong toy for that.

Millie is great with children, she loves spending time with her human foster sister; there are no food guarding issues or aggression.

Millie is a bright girl who knows sit, how to use the dog flap and toilets outside. She will of course need on going training and clear boundaries to enable her to grow into a great companion and loving family dog.

We think that as Millie is such a sociable dog that loves to be with other dog she would really benefit from being adopted to a family with at least one other resident fur friend.

Jack- Available for Adoption

Southampton

Jack is a small mixed breed, black male puppy of approximately 7 months of age. He is un-neutered due to being too young prior to aee

Lovely boy Jack once again is looking for his forever home

He was returned only after few weeks due to apparent dislike in going out for walks and biting/mouthing a child in his what was meant to be forever home.

After arriving back into foster with us, we noticed he is slightly anxious when putting a harness on, however once on he was the first one to leave the house, happily sniffing and exploring the surroundings.

He is a very friendly pup, who wants to say hi to other dogs even though sometimes he gets a bit shy.

Loves to play with other dogs in foster but also enjoys belly rubs and cuddles from us.

He is a very chilled pup who has shown no aggression when with us or to anyone he met on walks, we can only imagine him mouthing or biting if very scared or put into uncomfortable situations.

We still believe he would be fine with children in his forever home, as long as there are boundaries and the usual puppy training.

He is mostly going outside in the garden to do his business with some accidents on puppy pads. He is just a normal puppy who needs patience and routine.

With any puppy they need guidance, boundaries and routine and a family who understands this.
