Maddie's Album

Maddie- Available for Adoption

Southampton

Maddie the polar bear- approx. 4 year old, spade large female, mixed breed.

Maddie is a dog that you cannot help fall in love with.

She is a dog that has overcome so much with the help and dedication of Mira Assante Di Capillo, Alfred Schönbeck and the other wonderful volunteers in Macedonia.

When we visited in March, Mira told us she was worried Maddie would never find a home, never have a chance of a happy ever after......

So we promised both Maddie and her rescuer Mira that we would give her the happy ending she deserves.

When she was rescued she was very dog aggressive but you would never believe that now.

Sadly we think she was possibly used for dog fighting or baiting and some delightful human being cut her ears off!!

She is utterly incredible and loving her group walks with her canine friends.

We do still feel a dog free home is likely best for Maddie but we could not be prouder of this girl and she is so easy to fall in love with.

Maddie is a just a big gentle polar bear of a dog, full of love and kisses!

She adores everyone she meets, and despite what she's been through loves nothing more than a scratch behind the ears! She will literally lean into you or flop on top of you for hugs! And she has the best smile.

Maddie needs training but is catching on to toileting outside quickly and sleeps through the night on a dog bed. Since she's quite skinny for her size, it's no surprise that she lunges for any food in sight! That food motivation and her good nature should make her easy to train as she so wants to please.

Maddie is a very special dog with a hard past who still trusts and loves people. She deserves her happy ever after!

  • Almost housetrained

  • Pet free home required

  • Big dog experienced adopters

  • Quick learning

  • Prepared to carry on with muzzle training due to her past

Any serious enquiries please feel free to message us through our facebook page or by email to- anewleashforliferescue@outlook.com with contact details for a discussion about Maddie and what this beautiful girl needs.

If you meet the above criteria we have identified to be the best fit for Maddie and her ongoing adaption to home life please apply.

Khan's Album

Khan- Experienced Foster/Adopter required

nr. Southampton

Khan- 1 year old, neutered large male, malonois mix. weighs approx 28kgs. Currently in residential training.

We are looking for a suitable long term foster home or adopter for this stunning, loyal boy.

Khan is a Malonois mix male pup who has not had a good start and been returned to our rescue as he was becoming very dominant but this is due to him having had no boundaries or proper training.

Khan needs a knowledgeable, experienced foster or adopter who is active, patient and understanding and fully committed to working with him with socialisation and training to enable him to become the loving, loyal companion that he wants to be.

Khan needs a purpose and a focus to enable him to excel, he needs very firm boundaries but he is very receptive and attentive so with the right knowledge and training he could easily become a super companion or working dog.

Khan really is a loving sociable dog with humans, he loves cuddles and belly rubs and will sit for treats.

He has lived with other dogs both in his previous adopted home and in foster but he will try to dominate other dogs so is best suited to being an only dog.

Khan really needs someone who has the time and patience to take him back to basics to enable him to learn to how to be a happy dog who knows his place.

Shady's Album

Shady- Available for Adoption

Surrey.

Shady- approx. 2 years old, spayed female of medium/large sized & weighs approx. 25kgs.

Shady is a lovely lady who loves company and is learning to love the world around her. When she arrived she was very shy and nervous around most things but not at all aggressive in any way.

Shady has now really started to come out of her shell, she loves to play and run really fast but not for too long because then it’s time for a lovely long snooze!!

She is happiest sat back watching the world go by.

Shady is a big cuddle monster and loves nothing better than a neck rub and a good chat!!!

She is exceptionally tolerant of her puppy housemate and will play happily for ages with him in the mud.

She loves meeting new humans, especially children. She can be a little warier of men but just til properly introduced. She is quite reactive to other dogs from a distance until she sees how others around her react to them but this is really improving and she now walks well on the lead.. She is a little nervous of horses, but doesn’t bark at them, more of a polite respect!

She does seem quite keen to chase any cats she has come into contact with, so may be best in a home without small furries to be on the safe side.

She doesn’t know any commands yet but we’re working on that but is very gentle at taking treats from small hands and she’s learning about toys still.

Shady really is a super lovely girl that needs a fun home where there are lots of people to fuss over her.

  • Good with Children age 5 plus

  • No Cats or small furries

  • Can be homed as only dog or with resident dog/s

  • Crate trained

  • Can be left for a few hours

  • In Foster in Hampshire

As already stated please only apply if you have thoroughly researched getting a rescue dog.

To register your interest please read our Terms and Conditions for Adopters and adopters testimonials before completing the pre adoption questionnaire which can be found on our website.

Oakley's' Album

Oakley- Available for Adoption

Oakley- approx. 7 years old, neutered male, Lab type mixed breed, A medium size.

Oakley is an older boy, he's aged at 7 but could be a bit older. Oakley spent 6 years of his life in Romania in a public shelter with 600 other dogs. It was cold, noisy and he had to fight for his food.

This poor boy surely deserves a forever home for his remaining years where he can be settled and loved.

Oakley is a wonderful wonderful dog, however he is very frightened around humans. Its almost like he doesn't understand what a kind stroke is. When he first arrived he was untouchable. He hid at the end of the garden utterly terrified and he literally had to carried indoors.

However he has come on leaps and bounds in the last few weeks, he still flinches when he's touched and will run away if he feels worried, however he is now beginning to enjoy his strokes and seek out more, as well as taking treats, greeting us with a wagging tail in the morning and bouncing around happily for his dinner.

He really is the most rewarding dog and it is so lovely seeing him begin to shine. His new owner will need to be patient and gentle and not expect quick results, but I am sure he will become a loving and affectionate dog.

Great things about Oakley.... despite how scared he is he has never shown any aggression. He is good with the children who are 5 and 7 and loves the resident dogs. He gains a lot of confidence from them and for that reason we feel he would benefit from having another dog around as he continues to find his way in this new world. He can be left alone with other dogs for several hours, he doesn't really chew other than toys, he is fully house trained, sleeps all night, isn't reactive to anything, doesn't react to guests who come to the house and only really makes a few excited barks at dinner time. He is just so easy to have pottering round the house.

He has been taken for a walk with the other dogs. He was fine but overwhelmed and so this would need to be worked on once he has established his trust in you. He does not walk on the lead on his own and had to be to carried to his grooming appointment as he was frightened.

Such a wonderful boy that I'm sure will thrive in a patient and gentle home with a resident dog for confidence.

  • He is not cat tested

  • Good with dogs

  • Needs a resident dog for confidence

  • Good with young children

  • Not Lead trained

  • Fully housetrained.

  • Will need a very patient, loving home

  • In Foster in Havant, Hampshire.

Ollie's Album

Ollie- Available for Adoption

Southampton

Ollie is just over 1 year old, neutered male, he is a medium size mixed breed boy who deserves a safe and happy home.

Oliver (ollie) is just over a year old, but his Foster mum says he acts like a 6 month old!

Ollie was rescued from a field in Romania along with is mum and 8 siblings and brought to the UK to be found forever homes. His mum is Edna who is also on this page.

Out of all the pups; Ollie seemed to be the most traumatised from his past experiences and took a long time to overcome many of his fears but now his current lovely Foster mum has helped him immensely by putting in lots of hard work with training and socialising.

Ollie is by no means perfect and still has a way to go before he becomes the relaxed and socialised dog that he would like to be.

Ollie is definitely better on a 1 to 1 as he does take time to trust but once he does trust you he will happily enjoy plenty of cuddles and tummy rubs and can be very loveable.

Ollie is a real foody and will eat pretty much anything.

Ollie is Crate trained, he will sleep in his crate and can be left for a few hours.

Providing he has had a really good walk he has been left for up to 6 hours.

Ollie seems to enjoy his bed and his sleep and will sleep all night, you might even need to wake him up for his breakfast!

Bad Points ( unfortunately there are a few )

Ollie needs more lead training, as he does tend to pull a bit

Ollie can still be frightened and reactive to people and dogs outside the home so this is still being worked on; he can be ok in the home if introduced to people in the right way. Sometimes Ollie will bark a bit but this is also work in progress.

Ollie needs a quiet home but with someone who's active and will give him the exercise and stimulation he needs as he is high energy.

Please don't let Ollies bad points put you off as he has lots of good qualities he just needs an adopter he is patient and happy to continue his training and give him boundaries and guidance.

  • Requires a quiet adult home

  • Fully house trained.

  • Not cat tested

  • Able to be left for a few hours

  • walks on a lead but can pull

  • In Foster in Southampton

As already stated please only apply if you have thoroughly researched getting a rescue dog.

Buddy's Album

Buddy/ Peter- Available for Adoption

Worthing, West Sussex

Buddy is a 6 month old, stunning male pup, who will likely be a larger size boy when fully grown. He looks like some sort of shepherd /husky mix.

This young boy is an a absolute delight once he gains your trust which doesn’t take long especially if there is ham involved!!!

He has really learnt to enjoy playing like any normal happy pup and loves his toys.

He also loves to have his creature comforts and loves a snuggle on the sofa and a nice comfy bed.

He’s not been left on his own yet as he’s quite anxious when there is nobody around, but this is being worked on and given time will be fine.

Buddy is already doing so well with his commands and is very responsive to training. He already knows sit and stay, paw and he waits at the edge of the road to cross whilst on a walk.

He’s good with other dogs if introductions are made correctly as to not overwhelm him.

In fact only recently he was one of 9 dogs at a bbq and behaved impeccably.

He loves a good cuddle so if you want a loving sweet companion he’s your man.

Buddy is young and energetic so will need an active home wher he will get plenty of exercise and stimulation.

Ongoing training and socialisation is a must with puppy classes being very beneficial.

  • Dog experienced home please, no first time dog owners

  • Good with older children 10 and up.

  • Housetrained with garden access

  • Sleeps in his crate

  • Walks really well on a lead

  • Would be ideal as an only dog

  • Good on harness. Fine in traffic.

  • In Foster in Worthing

As already stated please only apply if you have thoroughly researched getting a rescue dog.

Pepper's Album

Pepper- Experienced Foster/Adopter required

Hampshire

Pepper is a little over a year old, and is a mixed breed girl of medium size who arrived from Romania last year.

Pepper was adopted shortly after arrival as a puppy and very quickly showed what an intelligent girl she was by learning lots of commands but also a strong willed personality.

Pepper was very responsive to her owner but became increasingly jealous and dominant over the children so was sadly returned to the rescue for rehoming.

Her assessment in foster determined that she likes to have all the attention when inside the home and doesn’t like sharing with other dogs, so Pepper is looking to be an only dog and due to her previous adoptive home set up being unsuitable an adult home is required.

Pepper really is a wonderful girl and holds a very special place in the hearts of everyone she meets; she is just a dog that needs to live without other canine company or other pets.

Pepper can still be wary of people to start with but quickly forms strong bonds once she realises that you are not a threat to her.

This young lady really does have a lot to offer in the right home; she will need someone patient and loving, but someone that is also experienced enough to give her firm boundaries from the start and maintain those firm boundaries.

When Pepper is outside of the home she is lovely and playful with everyone she meets, however in the home she can be reactive and needs someone who can work on this with her and put her in her place, as a follower not the boss!

  • Dog experienced home please, no first time dog owners

  • Adult only home

  • Housetrained

  • Crate trained

  • Great walking on a lead

  • Needs only dog home

  • Good on harness. Fine in traffic.

  • Not cat tested

Very sadly for the rescue and for Pepper, she is currently in kennels (as the rescue does not have any dog free foster homes at the moment). This is something we are keen to change as quickly as possible as she truly does deserve to be back in a home environment, kennels is no place for any dog long term.

Any serious enquiries please feel free to message us through our facebook page or by email to- anewleashforliferescue@outlook.com with contact details for a discussion about Pepper and what this gorgeous girl needs.

If you meet the above criteria we have identified to be the best fit for Pepper please apply.

Thor's Album

Thor- Experienced Foster/Adopter required

Scotland

Thor is approx. 3 years old and is a Large size, mixed breed black and white, neutered male from Romania.

Thor is a big handsome friendly boy who is super affectionate

with people, but due to his large size we would only home him with children 12 plus.

Thor is not cat tested and although he lived with multiple dogs in Romania; he is not friendly with all dogs so we do feel he needs to be the only dog in the home.

Thor will need someone who is experienced with large breeds, experienced with training and willing to put in the time and effort to help Thor adapt back into a home environment. This will require patience and plenty of positive re-enforcement.

He may need to readjust to toileting outside and will need all basic training put in place.

  • Large breed experienced home please, no first time dog owners

  • Children 12 +

  • Housetrained

  • Needs only dog home

  • Not cat tested

  • Currently in Strathaven in Scotland.

Thor was not brought to the UK by A new leash for life rescue but from a rescue that adopted direct to adopters from transport. He was adopted into a completely inappropriate and un secure home and very quickly escaped. We agreed to take him as there was no rescue back up provided from his original rescue.

Very sadly Thor is currently in kennels in Scotland. This is something we are keen to change as quickly as possible as he truly does deserve to be in a home environment, kennels is no place for any dog long term.

Any serious enquiries please feel free to message us through our facebook page or by email to- anewleashforliferescue@outlook.com with contact details for a discussion about Thor and what he needs.
