**Dog of the week- Barney**

Barney is an approximately 4year old, mixed breed, neutered boy from Romania

We don't know barney's life before A New Leash for Life rescue, what we do know is he has been let down by someone and needs time to learn to trust again and he will become your best companion .

Meet Barney-

Hi, my name is Barney Boy aka "Super Boy." I have been here for a few weeks and live with my foster mum and dad and their resident dog Tessa.

I think I like it here, especially when my human sister and family come round because I get lots of cuddles. I have a garden to play in, and I do like to play although Tessa is not very playful but I do try.

Mum says I always do my toilet outside and I have had no accidents so that is good. I also sleep thru the night, another plus for me.

After four days a parcel arrived and I was told it was for me....it was a new harness! I knew what that meant.... we can go out! Yay!!

Opposite our house, you go up a slope to a large field, so off I went with mum. It was pretty scary and once at the top I froze and I could not move; it was too scary, but luckily, after about thirty minutes, a nice young man offered to carry me home so I was really pleased about that, I was glad to get home to where I feel safe. Next day, we all went out together, me, my foster mum and dad as well as Tessa.

This time we did not go to the scary field but just went round the block which I liked and mum said I walked really well for a first time.

Big, brave boy that I am, I now go to the field every day and love it. I would like to run free but mum says I am not ready for that yet.

I am getting used to other dogs and their owners and I have also encountered a few cars and a motorbike; mum said it was good because I did not react.

I have been home alone a couple of times and take the opportunity to have a snooze on the sofa but I did sit up on the windowsill when I heard them come home.

I love my cuddles, I get lots of those and in the evening often sit on the sofa with mum and watch tv. I think I would like to stay here but mum says if I find a forever home then it will leave room here for another little fur baby here to start their new life just like me.

I would like somewhere I can go on long walks and have a comfy, warm bed. Love you all Barney Boy xx

Toby- Adopted

Toby is a small/medium sized mixed breed boy of approximately 2 years old.

Toby craves love and attention and would prefer not to have to share..

Toby is a very good boy, he likes chewing on treats and then falling asleep on the sofa (although he is also happy to sleep in a crate or pen).

He hasn't chewed anything he's not supposed to and he has only had one accident since he arrived.

Toby is still very nervous, and not sure if I like kids or not yet, however there has been a 9 year old living with me but Toby prefers it when he is not around. A child free or teenage children only home required.

He has been walking out on a lead and really enjoying it but stays very close to you as he still lacks confidence in unfamiliar surroundings.

"I’ve been told I’m a very good, very sweet boy and I need a home where someone will give me lots of love and plenty of snuggles. I’d prefer if you were home often as I’ll miss you if you are away too long.

Requires a home that will continue his confidence building

Prefer only dog home where the focus is on Toby

Eric - Available for Adoption

Eric is a mixed breed medium sized neutered boy of approximately 4 to 5 yrs old

Eric is a very handsome boy who arrived in the UK from Romania about 3 weeks ago and so far has taken everything in his stride.

He’s a very sweet natured boy who wants nothing more than to be loved but with that being said Eric is very scared of new humans, sudden movement or loud noises, so will take some time to settle with a new family and gain some confidence.

He loves being with his 4 foster siblings though so we think he would really benefit from another dog to show him the ropes and give him some needed confidence.

Because of his lack of confidence Eric needs a extra secure garden as he’s tried to bury himself in the bushes when he’s a little worried and if he were to get scared may try and escape until he is settled and confident in a new home.

Eric will need a lot of time and patience but we just know he will be the best family member once he’s more settled, he seems to have formed a bond quickly to his foster mum so I know he has the love to give and the potential to be a loving, loyal companion and friend.

House trained

Can be left alone (with other dogs)

Good (but shy) with children so older children only

Layla- Available for Adoption

Layla is a medium sized mixed breed spade girl of approximately 4 years old who arrived just a week ago and is adjusting to UK life in Foster really well.

We think Layla would be happy to be an only dog so she will get all the attention.

She is wary of some men, like a lot of our dogs, so will need a couple of meets so she can get to know her new family and in particular any male members of the family..

Layla is an absolute cuddle monster & will be your shadow. Layla loves a sofa and a comfy bed.

If you need to leave her she is fine for a couple of hours.

She is house trained and we have had no accidents.

She loves her food and gets very excited for treats & chicken.

She's been on short walks and she loves a sniff, doesn’t pull and seems happy to be out for short bursts.

Layla has been around children of 10/11 years and been gentle with them. She hasn’t worked out what to do with toys but she does love a fuss and I think she wants to play, she just doesn’t know how.

She is good with children 10yrs plus

Bianca- Available for Adoption

Hello, my name is Bianca. I am 4 years old & my foster mum says that I’m a beauty! I am medium sized & weigh 15kgs.

I arrived in the UK a few weeks ago. I absolutely love people, enjoy strokes, tummy rubs & wrapping myself around my foster mum’s legs.

I’m a big foodie & live for my meals & any treats that come my way.

I guard food items from the resident dogs so I would be better as an only dog.

After living on the streets & then in a public shelter my foster mum says that she can understand why I guard any food.

I arrived with a broken & infected nail. I was a brave girl at the vets where I was sedated & had the nail removed. The nurse said that I was as good as gold.

I am now tolerating a collar & a harness but do pull & weave about on a lead. I’m wary of setting my paws outside the safety of my garden so haven’t been out for any walks yet.

I have bonded very quickly with my foster mum. Give me a comfy bed, food & lots of love & I will be your best friend for life.

She is microchipped, fully vaccinated & has had flea & worm treatments

Larry-Available for Adoption

Larry is approximately 2 years old, a mixed breed medium size chap who is a tri-paw. At some point his leg would have been amputated.

After having Larry in foster care for a week we believe Larry would do best as a only dog or with a female confident playful dog.

Larry is easily distracted and boisterous in a playful way but will need boundaries in place.

He is super friendly but he can easily get over stimulated so needs someone who can do a lot of training with this handsome boy but also keep him calm when needed.

Larry loves his food so treat training won't take long I'm sure don't let him only having 3 legs make you think he can't do what other dogs can as he has shown us how much he loves to run and play and have his zoomies .

I have 3 legs but don't let that fool you to think it stops me being able to do stuff because it doesn't. Walk lovely on a lead

I'm a super happy boy who loves everyone.

I get very excited so older dog savvy children please who will enjoy putting some training in place for me

Dana- Available for Adoption

Dana arrived as a very scared 8 month old pup. She is a medium sized mixed breed girl who would benefit from some weight gain.

She is intelligent and once settled has learnt to use puppy pads, and open a stairgate.

She is happy with the resident dog, cat and chicken.

She can still be wary of males in the house but now will approach for a fuss. She can also be wary of strangers and at times vocal until she feels comfortable so several meetings may be needed for Dana to build her trust.

For this reason a local adopter within Hampshire essential.

Dana did find the outside daunting, but is now happy outside on a long lead.

We believe she has sheepdog or similar in her and would benefit from an active home, maybe someone experienced with agility training.

She is still wary of sudden movements and loud noises, so she would probably suit a home without children.

She can stretch herself up to borrow things from tables, etc - and will try and eat items. She is also very inquisitive.

She has a lovely expressive tail. When happy it has a lovely upward curl, as though held up on invisible string.

Every day Dana shows signs of relaxing and showing her cheeky character.

Prefer home without children

Would suit a single female.

Good with other dogs

Very secure garden with high boundaries needed

Good with Cats and chickens.

Several meets may be needed to build trust

Local Adopter within Hampshire required.

In Foster nr Salisbury.

Please only apply if you meet the above criteria we have identified will be the best fit for Dana and her ongoing adaption to home life and confidence in humans.

Harris- Available for Adoption

Harris is a really stunning neutered male shepherd cross of approximately 4 years old who is medium to large sized boy.

He arrived a few months ago; a very shut down sad boy but we knew from the off he was a super special boy.

He has eyes to melt you, they tell a story, you can see he's been treated badly in the past but he has so much love still to give.

Once Harris knows you he forms a really strong bond with you and it does not take long for him to love you, despite being let down in his past life in Romania.

Harris is now a super friendly playful energetic boy who lives nothing more than playing in the garden with his Foster brother Buddy. (a large lab) and other Foster pups that come and go.

Harris is learning slowly but surely that walks are fun but still needs encouragement and for this reason we definitely feel Harris needs a canine companion in his new home.

Harris is good around children but we feel a home with no young children would be better for him as he is shy around the fosterers grandchildren.

Harris really is an amazing dog who wants to trust, love and be your best friend; he so deserves his happy ever after but keeps being overlooked; we know someone is out there for him!

Beau- RESERVED

Beau is a 2 year old Beautiful, sweet girl that has had a hard start to life. Beau was rescued from a shelter in Greece where she had recently had pups before being transported to the UK.

No wonder she looks sad and worried at times, she has likely endured a lot in her first 2 years of life which is why this beauty needs a special someone that can help her reach her confidence mile stones as she learns how to be a dog again and to trust humans.

We are sure with time. care and love this little girl will grow in confidence, form a bond with you and give you lots of love in return

So far her foster family have received tail Wags when they enter the room and her rolling over for Belly rubs (she also loves a head massage). Every small step is a milestone for her and is so rewarding that we would love her forever family to be able to be a part of that journey.

Her comfortable place is a dog bed or a flower bed and she will stay there all day and night if you let her!

Beau seems to really enjoy having a bath and has a spring in her step once she is out. This is when she has been at her most active and now her foster family have realised she has a curly tail like a husky when it is up so she is certainly showing she is happy at times.

She mostly knows to toilet outside but has has the occasional accident while she's still getting used to her surroundings.

She will gracefully allow a harness to be put on her but is still learning how to be walked. Everything is a little bit scary at the moment and sitting against walls or ducking into gaps feels safe.

Mona- RESREVED

Mona is an approximately 5 year old. mixed breed girl who is medium sized and arrived from Romania a couple of weeks ago.

Since arriving into foster care Mona has really come out of her shell and is starting to get used to the sights and sounds of living in a home.

Mona is a quiet girl who would like a home where someone is home a lot as she likes to spend time with human company.

Mona would like a home where she will enjoy a nice walk everyday, as she walks well on the lead and really enjoys her walks.

Because Mona likes her peace and quiet, we think a home either without children or older children only where he quiet times can be respected.

Mona was in foster with cats prior to going into foster in the UK, despite this she has been a bit reactive to cats but this is improving.

If you are looking for a companion a slightly older dog then Mona could be your girl
